Addictions

People can be addicted to anything. These days a lot of people are addicted to social media sites or thir cell phones. But what else can people be addicted to? That's right, drugs and alcohol. An addiction is psychology is described as " a condition that results when a person ingests a substance (alcohol, cocaine, nicotine) or engages in an activity (gambling) that can be pleasurable but the continued use of which becomes compulsive and interferes with ordinary life responsibilities, such as work or relationships, or health. Users may not be aware that their behavior is out of control and causing problems for themselves and others." (psychologytoday.com) A lot of people view people who are addicted as low-life, bad people in general. But in reality, addiction can affect anybody who ends up in the wrong place at the wrong time.

  1. I think this is worded very well. Just this week I lost a friend to heroine. He was 100 days clean then relapsed. We think he died from overdose, so he probably died instantly. He was not a bad person at all. I met him at church and we texted a lot. I can only imagine what made him relapse.

  2. I knew a person addicted to alcohol and it wasn't a pleasant sight at all. It was terrible it consumed their lives. They were a good person and they couldn't live without it practically. They finally went to rehab and have been sober for over 3 years.
